Tornadoes Touch Down in Chicago Area
At Least Six Tornadoes Reported
One EF-1 Tornado Confirmed
At least six tornadoes touched down in the Chicago area on Monday, including an EF-1 tornado that caused damage in several communities.
The National Weather Service confirmed the EF-1 tornado touched down near Sugar Grove, Illinois, about 40 miles west of Chicago. The tornado caused damage to homes and businesses, and downed trees and power lines.
Other tornadoes were reported in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago, including three that were on the ground simultaneously at one point.
More than 200,000 Chicago-area residents were without power Tuesday following the storms.
